What does the -1DC suffix mean?

The -1DC designates the speed grade (450ns access time) and package variant for this EPROM configuration.

How do I erase and reprogram this chip?

Use an EPROM programmer with UV light capability. Place the chip under a UV lamp (typically 15-20 minutes) to erase the memory, then reprogram using the programmer's write mode.

What voltage does this require?

It operates at 5V for logic levels, with 12V and 25V required for programming operations.

What systems use the AM2716?

Common in microprocessor-based systems using 8080, 8085, 6800, 6809, and Z80 processors, including early computers, arcade cabinets, and industrial controllers.

Can this be replaced with modern memory?

Yes, modern EEPROMs or Flash memory can replace AM2716 in most applications, though pinout and voltage requirements must match the original circuit.

Is this still in production?

No, the AM2716 is discontinued. However, used chips remain available for restoration and legacy equipment maintenance.

What is the pin configuration?

24-pin DIP package with standard EPROM pinout: address inputs, data outputs, chip select, output enable, and Vcc/GND connections.
